Simon Carty

Simon Carty is an award winning specialist entertainment and media lawyer who graduated from UCD in 1992 in Politics and Philosophy and qualified as a Solicitor in 1998. In 1999 he joined BCM Hanby Wallace, one of Ireland’s top ten law firms in Ireland where he was made full partner in 2002. He received subsequent qualifications in Arbitration and Mediation and European Law.

He is an accredited mediator and believes that rather than engage in costly litigation it is in the client’s best interests to achieve the best solutions for them by finding mediated or arbitrated settlements.

He began acting for Brendan O’Carroll in September 2001 and has been his personal solicitor exclusively ever since. He is part of the production on for the BAFTA award-winning BBC TV series Mrs Brown’s Boys and provides legal advice to the production BOC Pix. This includes for all stage shows, DVD, merchandising and Ireland’s most successful ever feature film Mrs Browns Boys D’Movie.

In 2004 Simon founded Simon Carty Solicitors in Dublin. He remains involved in all aspects of law as they arise for Brendan O’Carroll, his family and his colleagues on Mrs Brown’s Boys and their related parties. This work includes litigation, conveyancing, property, leasehold agreements, family law and corporate law together with advice generally in relation to tax, VAT and related matters.

Simon’s main focus remains on media and entertainment law. He  now advises a wide range of artists, actors and entertainers on all legal matters relating to the entertainment and media business, including live shows and tours, retention of rights, recording contracts, distribution and licencing agreements, publishing agreements and all other matters.
